Mount Wudang is located southwest of Danjiangkou City, northwest of Hubei province, a famous Taoist place in our country. The scenic area is 321 square kilometers with many natural scene and humanity scene. The scenery on Mount Wudang is beautiful but it is also a cultural treasure ,a miracle in the world ancient architecture history . From Tang dynasty on , the Taoism on Mount Wudang had been developed prosperously gradually and had many Taoist temples, but the Ming dynasty saw most of nowadays’ temples .The representatives are Yuxu Palace, Zixiao Palace, Yuzhen Palace, Taihe Palace and so on 33 building complex. All the buildings were designed according to the terrain with unique layout with unique characteristics. It is recorded that since the Ming dynasty, there have been 33 complete and magnificent building complex with the total area 1600000 square meters connected by ancient plank roads on the two sides of the 70 kilometers extended from Jingle Palace to Tianzhu Peak on Jinding, all of which are forming a huge Taoist building complex with high artistic and cultural values. Mount Wudang is not only the scenic area but also the famous Taoist mountain. As a famous Taoist mountain, affluent incenses , vicissitude temples, melodious Taoist music , plentiful myths and legends as well as sincere pilgrims mix together to deliver the ancient culture. Ancient building complex on Mount Wudang in Hubei province was listed into the world heritage directory in December ,1994.
