Itinerary::
Day 1 Depart from Chengdu by train (a total length of 3,360 km, 44-hour’s
journey)
Depart from Chengdu to Lhasa, the city of Sunlight, by Qinghai-Tibet train,
overnight in the train.
Day 2 Chengdu - Lhasa
Sightsee the beautiful scenery of northwest China along the railway, and
adapt to plateau climate, overnight in the train.
Day 3 Golmud-Qinghai-Tibet Train - Lhasa
The train will pass by the section from Golmud to Lhasa at a fast speed
in the daytime. Along the road, you can enjoy the breathtaking Tibetan
Plateau and its splendid landscape. (a short while after departing from
Golmud, come to the pass of Kunlun Mountain, visitors could see the grandeur
of Kunlun Mountain and Kunlun Spring from the train. The train will pass
by the wild animal passage specially made by Kekexili. Visitors can see
the rare species of plants and animals of Kekexili in this area, if lucky
enough, Tibetan antelopes can be seen running along the railway from the
window. The train will cross the magnificent Tuotuo River, the source
of theYangtze River, and the Mt.Tanggula, the Roof of the World, Tanggula
River, which is about 5,072m, the highest place of Qinghai-Tibet railway.
After that you are going to drive on the highland grassland which is a
large area of pasture. Natso Lake lying between Amdo and Nagchu, is the
next attraction and a feast for the eye with its crystal clear blue water.
) Arrive in Lhasa at 16:10 p.m. You will be presented a pure Hada by the
local tour guide according to the Tibetan customs. Then head to hotel,
overnight at Lhasa, including supper.
Day 4 Lhasa – Basum Tso
Morning depart from Lhasa, cross Mila Mountain Pass (5013 meters), via
Dazi Plain, appreciate the beautiful landscape of Nyingchi, all the year
green. In the afternoon, visit Basum Tso Lake, the most beautiful lake
in Tibet. In the evening, dine local specials, or dance with local people.
Overnight at Basum Tso, and include three meals.
Day 5 Basum Tso – Nanyigou Valley – Zhagonggou Valley – Bayi
Via Bahe Couty, ride to Bayi, the largest city in Nyingchi. (a distance
of 120 km, 2-hour drive) Then visit Nanyigou Valley. It is situated in
Milin county of Nyingchi prefecture, one of the innumerous beautiful valleys
of Himalaya Mountain. Later head to Zhagonggou Valley, which is next to
Nanyigou Valley. Overnight at Bayi town, and include three meals.
Day 6 Bayi – Giant Cypress Forest – Lhasa
Morning visit the Giant Cypress. This cypress has a history of 2500 years
and is named “the sacred Cypress” (a 15-minute drive, nearly 10 km; Ticket:
15 RMB/person; 30-minutes sightseeing). Then back to Lhasa. (a 8-hour
drive, nearly 420 km; take photos on the way). Overnight at Lhasa, and
include three meals.
Day 7 Lhasa
Morning visit the Potala Palace, of ancient castle-style architectural
structure with the highest elevation in the world, the home monastery
of the Dalai Lama of each generation and the religious and political center
of Tibet (Ticket: 100 RMB/person, only one hour sightseeing). After lunch,
tour the Jokhang Temple, regarded as the holy place by Tibetan Buddhism
disciples, enshrining the gilded bronze statue of the 12-year-old Sakyamuni
which Tang Dynasty Princess Wencheng brought to Tibet (Ticket: 85 RMB/
person, one hour sightseeing), then head to Barkhor Street (free time:
around 40 minutes), where you can experience Tibetan customs and culture,
or buy handicrafts with ethnic features. Overnight at Lhasa, and include
three meals. (all day’s activities are taken in the city proper, around
15-minute drive)
Day 8 Lhasa- Yamdrok Yamtso Lake-Lhasa
Cross Mt. Kampala, the Yamdrok Yamtso Lake comes into your eyes, one of
the three holies lakes in Tibet (Ticket: 40 RMB, 1hour sightseeing, a
length of 110 km, 2.50-hour drive).The Yamdrok Yamtso means “Swan Pond”
in Tibetan, with an elevation of 4441 meters, the largest freshwater lake
in Tibet. Then back to Lhasa by bus (a length of 110 km, 2.5-hour drive),
overnight at Lhasa, and include three meals.
Day 9 Lhasa – Chengdu
Depart from Lhasa to Chengdu by flight, the end.
